I’ll never forget the day when after saw a fictional movie, my father taking me hand in hand said to me, "Son, what you would tell me if I told you that at least decendents of those dinosaurs who you saw in the movie still living today, they exist, and ‘cause they’re smaller, they are nothing to be afraid of and you can even touch ‘em, and then, he asked me if I wanted to see ‘em, we can go right now.

My dad knew how to get me ready for when we got there, I’d be delighted to see as simple iguanas as it were dinosaurs.
I was amazed, but it is true, these little animals are within few species descendants of those terrific prehistoric monsters.
And I, as a child, what most enjoyed was being able to touch them like nothing, and it’s so strange but funny experience I was able to do in a place of my city (Guayaquil) called the Seminary Park, the Iguanas Park.

The Seminario Park or Bolivar Park originally had an "eight-pointed star" on the floor and it was for this reason that it had the name of "Plaza de la Estrella", it was in 1868. 21 years later (1889) in the center of this square were builded the monument to the liberator Simón Bolívar on his imposing horse, after that the park was renamed to Plaza Bolívar.

A few years later an important citizen known as Manuel Seminario makes a donation to renew and modernize flowers and gardens and give another face to this beautiful park that in honor of this gentleman, would take the name of Seminary Park.
Today It’s also known as "the Iguanas Park" ‘cause in its large and leafy trees inhabit hundreds of Iguanas that live and feed in complete peace and harmony with very friendly attitude with people who visit ‘em, some Iguanas can reach measure up to a meter in length.

In addition, as part of the Ecological Ornate of the park, there is a kind of small artificial lagoon where we find a variety of colorful fish and turtles that enhance the attractiveness of the park.
So also in one of the corners we find a sculpture of two boars that are fighting, the "Glorieta" is another of the attractions of the park, says the history that was made of wrought iron, cast in a workshop in France in 1882, this structure was adorned with allegorical filigrees that give it a very special tone on top with a spectacular reddish color. All this environment coupled with a number of birds and other animals like squirrels, give it the perfect touch for the visitor to have fun directly and very friendly with this beautiful nature that it has, The Seminary Park is the oldest in the city and the principal place of civic concentration of Guayaquil, here we celebrate mainly the festivities of October (Independence of the city).
